Professor Dr. Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh is distributing awards among the researchers at the "Research Award Giving Ceremony 2025" organized by DIU Research Division.
Dhaka, Bangladesh, 19 May 2025: Daffodil International University (DIU) successfully hosted the Research Award Giving Ceremony-2025 on May 19, 2025, at the International Conference Hall, Knowledge Tower, DSC, Birulia, Savar, Dhaka-1216. The event, attended by a significant number of researchers and faculty members of DIU, was organized by the Division of Research (DoR) to celebrate the outstanding research contributions of DIU's faculty, researchers and students in advancing knowledge and innovation.
In 2024, DIU’s faculty members and researchers made a significant impact by publishing over 1200 research papers in renowned Scopus-indexed journals. This achievement highlights the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its growing influence in the global research community. The university’s standing is further solidified with DIU being ranked jointly 1st in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025, highlighting its prominent position on the academic stage.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of several esteemed figures, including Professor Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Honorable Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, who served as the Chief Guest. Other notable figures included Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Honorable Chairman of the Board of Trustees, DIU (who attended virtually), Professor M. Lutfar Rahman, Honorable Vice Chancellor of DIU, and Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor of DIU.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Director of the Division of Research (DoR) and Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management (ESDM) at DIU, who spoke on the status of research publications at DIU, the importance of continuous research, and the university’s ongoing efforts to foster a sustainable research culture.
During the ceremony, Professor Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossain praised DIU’s faculty and researchers for their extraordinary achievements and highlighted the university as a role model for other institutions. He emphasized that while publications are important, research should also focus on solving real-world challenges, addressing social inequalities, and contributing to national policies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Hossain also acknowledged the UGC's ongoing efforts to provide the necessary resources, including funding, to support research in Bangladesh.
The awards presented to about 385 faculty members and researchers of DIU during the ceremony celebrated excellence in various categories, including quality publications, patent development, and research funding. The ceremony sets a significant milestone in DIU's journey towards strengthening its research culture and inspiring future innovations. As DIU continues to set standards in academic and research excellence, the university reaffirms its commitment to empowering its faculty and researchers to make meaningful contributions to both local and global knowledge development.
