A Grand Celebration of Heritage, Products, and Culture from Bangladesh’s 64 Districts at Daffodil International University
Daffodil International University (DIU) is proudly announcing the successful organization of “Oitijjer Haat 2025,” held for the fourth time to showcase the rich heritage, products, culture, and culinary traditions of all 64 districts of Bangladesh on a single platform. Organized jointly by the Department of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and BRAC Bank PLC, the daylong event took place at the Independence Conference Hall on the DIU campus. This year’s festival is being held under the theme “Branding
Bangladesh”, with the aim of presenting the country’s traditional heritage to the modern generation in an attractive way while creating a platform for local entrepreneurs.
The inauguration ceremony is being graced by Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice Chancellor, DIU; Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director & Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank PLC; Professor Mohammad Masum Iqbal, Pro Vice Chancellor, DIU; Dr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, DIU; Mr. Jakirul Islam, Head of SME Strategy, Innovation & New Business, BRAC Bank; Mrs. Khadiza Mariam, Head of Women Entrepreneurs Cell; Professor Dr. Rakibul Kabir, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, DIU; Dr. K. M. Hasan Ripon , Managing Director, Global Entrepreneurship Network Bangladesh; and Mr. Kamruzzaman Didar, Head, Department of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, DIU. Entrepreneurs, industry representatives, university faculty members, students, and participants from various districts of the country are also attending the event.
Organized as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the event is playing a vital role in promoting entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, innovation, and creative confidence among the youth. As part of GEW 2025, GEN Bangladesh is hosting more than 100 entrepreneurship-centered events nationwide, engaging over one hundred thousand students in the national entrepreneurial ecosystem. The festival features traditional rural products, local cuisine, handicrafts, folk culture, and creative branding presentations prepared by DIU students, representing the diverse identity of all 64 districts of
Bangladesh. Young entrepreneurs are showcasing their innovative products and business ideas, attracting significant interest among visitors. With its unique fusion of traditional heritage and modern branding, “Oitijjer Haat” is emerging each year as a major point of attraction for the nation’s rising entrepreneurs.
Since its inception in 2022, “Oitijjer Haat” has received copyright recognition and has become one of DIU’s most successful and celebrated flagship events. This initiative, highlighting the unique heritage of each district, is now being recognized as a powerful model for youth entrepreneurship development and cultural branding.
Welcoming the initiative, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said, “Oitijjer Haat connects young people to their cultural roots and opens new avenues for entrepreneurial empowerment. This is not just an exhibition it is part of Bangladesh’s growing entrepreneurial movement.”
Syed Abdul Momen says, “BRAC Bank has long been contributing to the development of SME entrepreneurs. Oitijjer Haat is a powerful platform for showcasing the potential of local entrepreneurs.” Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir remarks, “This event plays a significant role in bringing the diverse traditions of all 64 districts to the younger generation. It will have a positive impact at the national level.”Professor Mohammad Masum Iqbal, PhD, states, “Oitijjer Haat is an exceptional initiative that brings together our culture, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial potential. It will continue to inspire the new generation.”
Successfully held for the fourth time, “Oitijjer Haat 2025” is contributing meaningfully to branding the heritage of Bangladesh in a modern context while empowering the country’s young entrepreneurs. Organizers express optimism that, in the coming years, this flagship brand event will represent Bangladesh’s heritage on a greater scale in the international arena.
