Daffodil International University (DIU) reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance and continuous institutional improvement by organizing a high-level workshop titled “Knowledge Sharing on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education” today on August 30, 2026 at the International Conference Hall of the university at Daffodil Smart City, Birulia, Savar, Dhaka. Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan, Honourable Chairman, Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) was present in the workshop as the chief guest while Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University was present as the guest of honour. Presided over by Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University, the workshop was also addressed among others by Professor Dr. Md. Shah Amran, Honourable Member (Full-Time), Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), Professor Nasir Uddin Ahammed, Director (Accreditation and QA & NQF), Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University and Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Dean (Academic Affairs) and Director, IQAC, Daffodil International University,
The workshop brought together distinguished representatives of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and the senior leadership of DIU to facilitate knowledge sharing and academic discussion on accreditation, quality assurance, standards, criteria, institutional preparedness and the importance of systematic documentation in the accreditation process. The workshop was attended by Deans, Associate Deans, Heads, Associate Heads, faculty members and members of Programme Self-Assessment Committees (PSACs) of the university.
A major highlight of the workshop was the knowledge-sharing session by Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan, Honourable Chairman, Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). He appreciated Daffodil International University’s efforts in initiating the accreditation process and highlighted the increasing importance of accreditation for higher education institutions in the coming days. Professor Dr. Akhtar Hossain Khan particularly encouraged the university community not to be apprehensive about the accreditation process. Instead, he stressed the importance of properly maintaining and documenting the credentials, academic activities, achievements and institutional practices of the university. He emphasized that systematic documentation of institutional activities is essential for presenting credible evidence during the accreditation process.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, shared his perspectives on accreditation and global standards. He discussed the local and global dimensions of accreditation and emphasized the growing importance of quality and internationally benchmarked practices in strengthening the position and competitiveness of higher education institutions.
Addressing the workshop, Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University, discussed various issues relating to BAC and other accreditation bodies. He emphasized the importance of institutional preparedness and sustained efforts towards quality enhancement to ensure that DIU remains responsive to evolving accreditation requirements.
The distinguished BAC representatives subsequently participated in an engaging question-and-answer session with faculty members from different departments. Faculty members raised questions on various aspects of accreditation, allowing the BAC panelists and participants to exchange views and engage in meaningful academic discussion on technical, procedural and institutional issues related to accreditation.
The workshop represents an important milestone in DIU’s continuing efforts to strengthen its institutional quality assurance culture and accreditation preparedness. The knowledge and insights shared by the senior representatives of BAC are expected to support DIU’s academic and administrative units in developing a deeper understanding of accreditation requirements and strengthening evidence-based documentation of institutional activities.
