To ensure professional ethics and excellence among engineers in Bangladesh, the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) has recently formed a new “Ethics Board”. The Chairman of this newly formed board is Prof. Dr. Engr. M. R. Kabir, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University. According to IEB, the board has been constituted under Section 83.00 of its Constitution and the decision of the 650th meeting of the Central Council. The Ethics Board will work to uphold professional ethics, discipline, and dignity of engineers, as well as to ensure accountability and responsibility within the engineering profession.
The board comprises distinguished academics and experienced engineers from the country’s leading educational institutions and professional bodies. Among them are representatives from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh University of Textiles, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, and the Bangladesh Human Rights Commission, along with eminent professors and professional experts from various organizations.
IEB expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Engr. M. R. Kabir, the Ethics Board will play a vital role in fostering professional integrity, ethical practices, and capacity building among engineers, thereby strengthening and advancing the engineering sector in Bangladesh.
