A life-long educationist, IT Researcher and International Trainer Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam has joined as the Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU) today, the 23rd July 2015. He joined after Prof. Dr. Lutfar Rahman, the immediate past Vice Chancellor completed his term in the office successfully.
In this connection a ceremony was organized to welcome the new VC to receive charge from Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman at the Office of the Vice Chancellor. Founder Vice Chancellor and Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam welcomed him with bouquet of flowers. The new Vice Chancellor received a warm and formal reception by Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Pro-vice Chancellor, Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahbub–Ul Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology (FSIT), Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE), Prof. Dr. M. Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ismail Mustafa, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), Prof. Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Hoque, Registrar, Mohamed Emran Hossain, Member, Board of Trustees, Heads of the Departments, Directors and by the whole university with a delightful and colorful environment of the Daffodil International University.

Prior to taking office as Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU), Prof. Yousuf. M Islam had been working as the Executive Director of Human Resources Development Institute (HRDI) and Professor of Software Engineering Department of the university. Professor Islam started his academic career at the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics of the University of Dhaka in 1978. During his professional life Professor Islam held a number of top academic positions where his contributions stand out distinctly. He was the Founding Vice Chancellor of Metropolitan University (MU), Sylhet and Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Founder of BRAC University invited him to be the Founding Chair of the CSE department at BRAC University in 2002. He was a founding member of the strategic planning committee, BUILD that planned the direction of BRAC University during early days. He was the Founding Academic Director at the Residential Semester and the Founding Director of the Teaching Learning Center (TLC) at the BRAC University where he designed a participatory approach to teacher’s training. The contributions of Professor Islam were acknowledged as the flagships of BRAC University at the 10th Founding Anniversary in 2012. NCC (UK) nominated him as the Regional Moderator consecutively for 3 terms for the B Sc. program under Metropolitan University (UK). In addition to his academic background, he brings a wealth of industry experience to the new position, with 5 international projects to his credit. He started his journey at DIU as a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in September, 2008.

Dr. Yousuf M. Islam is married with two sons and one daughter. His wife Aliza Islam taught in Scholastica for 17 years. Nader, his eldest son, a Professional Accountant, works in California, Amirah, his only daughter graduated this May 2015 in Communication from Texas State University and Aseal, his second son, is completing his Computer Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas.
