Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of GEN Bangladesh and Daffodil International University is addressing at the “`Meet the Press’ on Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) Bangladesh 2025. Jointly organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh and Daffodil International University.
Today on April 28, 2025 (Monday), at a vibrant `Meet the Press’ the official campaign for the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) Bangladesh 2025 was launched. The `Meet the Press’ was held at Daffodil Plaza, Dhanmondi, Dhaka and jointly organized by Daffodil International University and the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh.
The program was presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of GEN Bangladesh and Daffodil International University. The Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious startup pitch competitions, offering participants the opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas and business plans for a chance to win a share of USD 3 million in prizes and investment opportunities. For the 2025 edition, startups from Bangladesh will be selected across three categories: Idea Stage, Early Stage, and Growth Stage.
Chairman of GEN Bangladesh and Daffodil International University Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said, "Innovation will build the Bangladesh of the future. And the Entrepreneurship World Cup is the first step to realizing that dream."
Speakers at the event emphasized that EWC represents a significant opportunity for Bangladesh’s startup ecosystem, enabling entrepreneurs to connect with global investors, mentors, and technology leaders.
GEN Bangladesh, Bangladesh Venture Capital Limited, KnowledgeVale, and the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Daffodil International University are serving as the national hosts for EWC 2025. International partners supporting the competition include Microsoft, NEOM, and Monshaat.
The Meet the Press was also addressed by Mr. Munir Hasan, Chief Coordinator of Digital Transformation and Youth Activities of the Daily Prothom Alo, Mr. Shawkat Hossaim, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh Venture Capital Ltd. (BVCL), Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer, Daffodil Family and Mr. K M Hasan Ripon, Managing Director (GEN Bangladsh) . The event was graced by board members of GEN Bangladesh, representatives from partner organizations, startup founders, and prominent media professionals.
Participants highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns, seminars, and workshops across universities to foster a startup culture and inspire young innovators. The event concluded with a detailed briefing on the EWC 2025 registration process and participation guidelines.
