Professor Dr. Achuyata Samanta, Founder of Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) & Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) laying Foundation Stone of Daffodil Institute of Social Science (DISS)–for comprehensive rehabilitation of disadvantaged children at Dattapara under Ashulia thana in Dhaka. Foundation Stone of Daffodil Institute of Social Science (DISS) –for comprehensive rehabilitation of disadvantaged children was laid on January 11, 2018 at Dattapara under Ashulia Thana in Dhaka. Ashulia, Dhaka. Professor Dr. Achuyata Samanta, Founder of Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) & Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) laid the foundation stone as the chief guest in presence of Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairamn, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and Founder of Daffodil Institute of Social Science. Prof. Dr. S M Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahaman,Professor Dr. A M M Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor S M Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Dean, Permanent Campus, Professor Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Hoque, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Farid A Sobhani, Dean, HRDI and other high officials of Daffodil International University, high officials of Daffodil Institute of Social Science and local elites were present at the foundation stone laying ceremony.

Vulnerable Children of both sexes (boys and girls) of 5-10 years of age will be rehabilitated voluntarily at DISS. DISS will provide full time residential support and rehabilitate the vulnerable or Disadvantaged children and will provide Holistic development approaches. DISS will select children in close cooperation with MOWCA and law enforcing agencies. The formal activities of DISS will start with 100 vulnerable children by July 2018 and finally 4000 children will get the opportunity to flourish their future.

DISS objective is to find out the Entrepreneurial mindset of underprivileged children to train them, educate them, counsel them and make them confident to stand on their own feet and become these Entrepreneurs or leaders who can contribute to their respective fields. DISS will nurture them considering their skill, merit and willingness.

DISS will provide Free education up to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) as per NCTB ( govt.) curriculum and will also provide specialized education for learning about health, hygiene, sanitation, discipline, human rights and civic responsibilities etc.

DISS believes that each child has immense potentials, only few of them got the proper support for blooming of their potentials and to identify potentials of every child, a regular talent hunt program will be conducted and appropriate support mechanism will be designed i.e. support for musical talent, support for art and culture, support for game and sports.

During Foundation Stone Laying ceremony Professor Dr. Achuyata Samanat said, KISS will extend all sorts of cooperation to Daffodil Institute of Social Sciences smoothly and DISS has made an agreement with KISS for mutual cooperation to conduct the DISS. A 15 member delegation of DISS has already visited KIIS recently.

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said, as a part of Academic Social Responsibility Daffodil International University will run the DISS through which the children will gain basic knowledge through formal education and acquire life skills through vocational and technology based training and Children will become aware of child rights, civic responsibilities, Ethics education. This will contribute towards development of skilled human resource and will impact on poverty reduction vis-à-vis attainment of SDGs, he added.
