DIU Hosted Seminar on Social Dimensions of Disaster and Climate-Induced Displacement

Daffodil International University (DIU) successfully hosted the seminar “Social Dimensions of Disaster and Displacement in the Context of Climate Change in Bangladesh: From Knowledge to Practice” on February 19, 2025.

The session featured Hyeonggeun Ji from The Hague Humanitarian Studies Centre (HSC) at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), who conducted extensive fieldwork in Bangladesh as part of his PhD research on Humanitarian Governance.

The seminar highlighted key discussions on:
Politics of framing disaster and displacement in a changing climate
Impact of knowledge on practice and its real-world implications
Challenges in governing assistance for climate-displaced populations in Kurigram and Patuakhali

Participants gained valuable insights into the governance complexities surrounding climate-induced displacement and humanitarian challenges in Bangladesh.
