Daffodil International University holds Seminar on 'Consumer-Rights Protection Act- 2009'

A seminar on 'Consumer-Rights Protection Act, 2009' was held yesterday on 22nd February at the International Conference Center of the University organized by Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship of the university. Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, Director General (Grade-1) of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection was present as the chief guest in the seminar.  Director (Administration & Finance) Mr. Abdul Jalil, Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Professor Dr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director, External Affairs attended the seminar as special guests. Professor Dr. Mohammad Masum Iqbal., Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship presided over the seminar. The seminar was also addressed by Afroza Rahman, Deputy Director (Traning and Publicity) of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection. officials of the Directorate's head office, Dhaka divisional office and Dhaka district office, teachers and students of Daffodil International University and journalists of print and electronic media were present in the seminar.

Addressing as the chief guest, Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, Director General thanked the university authorities and all concerned for their cooperation in making the teachers and students aware of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 through this seminar. He highlighted the nature of anti-consumer rights acts existing in the present society and apprised everyone about the activities taken by the Directorate to prevent them.

He said, we are constantly working to protect consumer rights, but to be successful in this field, consumer awareness is necessary. This seminar has been organized as part of creating this awareness.He thanked the students for their spontaneous participation in the seminar on behalf of the Directorate. He said, a consumer-friendly healthy society will be formed with the collective efforts of all He hoped that the students should be aware of consumer rights and be vocal in protecting consumer rights and demanding rights.

While delivering the welcome address Professor Dr. Syed Mizanur Rahman urged every one to raise their voice logically for the realization of rights. Afroza Rahman, Deputy Director (Training and Publicity) of the Directorate Head Office presented a power point on how the Consumer Rights Protection Act is playing a role in protecting consumer rights.Then a documentary on recent activities of the Consumer Rights Protection Department was shown.
