Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice chancellor of Daffodil International University along with the winners of IEEE BDS Humanitarian Idea & App Contest “SS12: Code-A-Thon Challenge” of Bangladesh round held at Daffodil International University.

IEEE BDS Humanitarian Idea & App Contest “SS12: Code-A-Thon Challenge” of Bangladesh round was held on Friday, 12 August at Daffodil International University Banquet Hall. This contest was hosted by Daffodil International University. 36 teams from different public and private universities participated in the contest. “Green Spark” team from AIUB won the Championship in competitive App contest whereas “Kinghts’ Tenement” of Dhaka University and ‘MIST App Tech’ of Military institute of Science and Technology (MIST) were declared as the 1st and 2nd runners up. The winning team “Green Spark” will get the opportunity to participate in the final round of this contest which will be held in India.
Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustee of Daffodil International University visited during the contest to encourage the participants. Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice chancellor of Daffodil International University was the chief guest at the closing and prize giving ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners. Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, chair, IEEE Bangladesh section, Dr. Celia Shahnaz, program coordinator, 2016 IEEE R10 WIE coordinator, advisor and past chair, woman in engineering (WIE) affinity group, IEEE Bds., Dr. Pran Kanai Saha, head, dept. of EEE, DIU, Dr. Quazi Deen Mohammad Khosru, head, dept. of EEE, BUET also spoke at the program. .

The program started with the welcome speech given by Dr. Pran Kanai Saha, head, dept. of EEE, DIU and Dr. M Shamim Kaiser, organizing chair, professor, JU, humanitarian activity coordinator, IEEE Bds. The ideas and Apps were evaluated by the honorable judge panel consisting of renowned faculties from different public and private universities. Dr. Quazi Deen Mohammad Khosru, head, dept. of EEE, BUET and Engr. Enamul Kabir, director, BCC were the convener and the co-convener of the judge panel. The members of the judge panel were Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Adnan (BUET), Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin (JU), Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain (DIU), Dr. Khondaker A. Mamun (UIU), Col A B M Humayun Kabir (MIST), Dr. Tabin Hasan (AIUB), Dr. Muhammad Nazrul Islam (MIST), Dr. Sheak Rashed Haider Noori (DIU). The program ended with vote of thanks given by Md. Dara Abdus Satter, co-convener, SS12: Code-A-Thone and assistant professor, dept. of EEE, DIU.
