Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury, Advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court delivering his keynote presentation at the workshop on “Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)”.
Department of Law of Daffodil International University in collaboration with Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) which is the first international arbitration institution of the country organized a distinguished workshop on “Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)” at 11:00 AM on November 3, 2016, at DIU Auditorium.
The workshop started through delivering welcome address by Professor A.M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences. Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, was present as the chief guest in this workshop. The key note speakers were Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury, an advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court and Advocate Afrin Ahmed, Senior Counsel, BIAC. While delivering his valuable speech, Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury emphasized on the implementation of ADR process not only in domestic matters but also in international arena i.e. international transactions and businesses and Advocate Afrin Ahmed also discussed the necessity of ADR process, the process of resolving disputes outside the court, different types of ADR, existing laws relating to ADR in Bangladesh, advantages of ADR and the disposal rate of disputes in different countries i.e. USA, UK, Malaysia etc. following ADR process. The arbitral award is final and binding and is enforceable as the same as a court’s decree.
Ms. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Head of the Department of Law was also present in this workshop which ended with concluding address by Mr. Riaduzzaman, Head (In-Charge), Department of Law, Daffodil International University.
