Former Cricketer of Bangladesh National Cricket Team and ICC Development Coach Monjurul Islam addressing among the players at the inaugural ceremony of the DIU Inter Department Cricket and Football Tournament - 2016. 

Daffodil International University (DIU) Inter Department Cricket and Football Tournament - 2016 began today at Ashulia Permanent Campus. Former Cricketer of Bangladesh National Cricket Team and ICC Development Coach Monjurul Islam inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Director ( Permanent Campus), Dr. A B M Kamal Pasha, Deputy Registrar & Advisor, DIU Sports Club, Mr. Kazi Diljeb Kabir, Assistant Director were also present at the inaugural ceremony. 14 departments of the university are participating in the cricket tournament while 8 departments are participating in the football tournament. The final match will be held on November 03, 2016.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony Former Cricketer of Bangladesh National Cricket Team and ICC Development Coach Monjurul Islam highly appreciated infrastructure facilities like play ground, indoor gymnasium and green environment of the university which reflects the world-class sports environment. He urged the students to utilize the facilities provided by the university and build sportsmanship career and contribute to the nation. Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal said, from the very beginning Daffodil International University giving highest emphasis on sports besides education and we are trying to build up the university as a sports oriented university and for that all sorts of sports facilities have been setting up gradually. By this time DIU students have proved their success records in SAF Games, Bangladesh Olympic and many other national and international events.

 Software Engineering Department, Nutrition and Food Engineering (NFE) Department, Journalism and Mass Communication and Pharmacy Department won their respective matches and move to Semi-Final.
