Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Campus Language English’.
The inauguration ceremony of the ‘Campus Language English’ was held on 5 June 2016, Sunday, at DIU auditorium in Daffodil Tower-05. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University, was present as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam graced the occasion as the special guest. Among others, Deans, Heads, other faculty members and a good number of students were present in the program.
The program started with a welcome speech by the Head of the English Department, Ms. Shamsi Ara Huda. Ms. Huda reaffirmed the commitment of the English Department in the internationalization of DIU through increased and proper use of English. Her speech was followed by some multimedia presentations prepared by Mr. Mustafizur Rahman Sameen who is an Assistant Professor of English Department and is currently working as the Project Head of ‘Campus Language English’. A good number of situational videos, showing examples of using English in everyday activities, were shown in the program. Also a stylish video where all leading figures of DIU encouraged the use of English in a very motivational way was shown.
‘Campus Language English’ is a new initiative taken by the DIU authority, and it aims to promote the use of English in the everyday activities in all DIU campuses. The students, the administrative officers and all other employees will be trained and motivated to use English for all necessary communications. Working with the motto ‘No English, No Service’, huge promotional and motivational campaign will be carried on inside the campuses.
In a short closing session, Mr. Md. Sabur Khan requested the Campus Language English team to carry on with their project with full energy and vigour. To inspire them more, he announced prize money of fifty thousand taka for Mr. Mustafizur Rahman Sameen and his team. In his very short speech, the Vice Chancellor of DIU, Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, emphasized the need of this project and his strong will to make it successful inside DIU. The program ended with a vote of thanks by the Dean of FHSS, Professor A. M. M. Hamidur Rahman.
