“DIU T20 Cricket Tournament 2016” began today on May 20, 2016 at DIU Permanent Campus Cricket Ground at Ashulia, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. S M Mahbub-Ul- Haque Majumder, Acting Vice- Chancellor, Daffodil International University inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. Habibul Bashar Sumon, Former Captain of Bangladesh National; Cricket Team and Hasibul Hossain Shanta, Former Fast Bowler of of Bangladesh National; Cricket Team were present as the special guests at the inaugural ceremony.

In the opening match Daffodil International University defeated Independent University Bangladesh by 74 Run. Daffodil International University won the Toss and decided to Bat first. Daffodil International University collected 181 run losing all the wickets. On behalf of DIU Linkon collected 71 run while Sohel collected 60 and Monir collected 41 run. Rafi of Independent University got 2 wickets. In reply Independent University Bangladesh collected 107 runs losing 9 wickets. Basit of Independent University Bangladesh collected highest 52 runs. Saad of Daffodil International University got 4 wickets spending 6 runs while Raju of the same team got 3 wickets spending 14 run. Linkon of the Daffodil International University adjudged the Man of the Match.

To increase sporting culture and practice and develop interaction among the students of private universities, Daffodil International University is organizing this tournament. Country’s leading 10 private universities devided into two groups are participating in this tournament. The participating teams are BRAC University, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), University of Liberal Arts of Bangladesh ( ULAB),Daffodil International Academy ( DIA), International University of Business Agriculture and Technology ( IUBAT), City University, Green University, Eastern University, Bangladesh University and host Daffodil International University ( DIU).

Honorable State Minister for Youth and Sports Shri Biren Sikder on June 03, 2016 will enjoy the final match and will distribute prizes among the winners. Champion and Runner Up team of the tournament will get Additional Prize Money of Tk. 50,000/= and Tk. 30,000/= respectively in addition to Champion and Runner Up Trophy and Fair Play Winner Team will get Tk. 15,000/= including Fair Play Trophy.
