Guests at the Round Table Discussion on “Exporting to China: Opportunities and Challenges” jointly organized by Daffodil International University (DIU) and Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) held at Daffodil International University
To promote and develop trade and to improve export in China, Daffodil International University (DIU) and Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) jointly organized a Round Table Discussion on “Exporting to China: Opportunities and Challenges” on 23 April, 2016 at Daffodil International University Auditorium. The purpose of this project is to support the increase of exports of Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) from 6 Asian least developed countries (LDCs) including Bangladesh to China. The Round Table Discussion focused on the project for “Enhancing Export Capacities of Asian LDCs for Intra-regional Trade” of International Trade Centre (ITC) which aims to contribute to increase exports of Bangladeshi small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to China and to take advantage of Asia's largest and most dynamic import market, as a stimulus to boost intraregional trade.
Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU,Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU, Mr. M. Hamid, Director and Mr. Al Mamun Mridha, Joint Secretary, Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) were present at the Round Table Discussion. Amongst the participants the representative of USAID-Trade Facilitation Activity (TFA), Bangladesh Tariff Commission (BTC), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), Yunan Commercial Representative Office in Bangladesh and Exporters of different sectors were present at the Round Table Discussion.
The Round Table Discussion comprises with the sessions like ‘Idea Cards presentation’ and ‘open discussion’ where all the participants participated to put on their ideas, views and recommendations in addressing challenges and opportunities to export in China. The participants discussed about the issues like Non Tariff Measures (NTMs), Economic Diplomacy, Product Diversification, VISA issues, Market Research etc. Lots of recommendations come out at the RTD to address the issue of reducing trade gap between Bangladesh and China.
