Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid distributing Chancellor’s Gold Medal to Fahmida Emran Munu at the 5th Convocation of Daffodil International University held today at Ashulia Permanent Campus.
5th Convocation of Daffodil International University was held on January 13, 2016 at the auditorium of Ashulia permanent Campus of the University. Delegated by Md. Abdul Hamid, Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of Daffodil International University, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh presided over the Convocation ceremony and conferred the degrees. His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, the Crown Prince of Perlis, Malaysia & Honorable Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) attended the convocation as the Convocation Speaker. The convocation was also addressed by Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees and Prof. Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of the university.

In the 5th convocation a total 3,683 students will be conferred upon graduation and post graduation degrees and among them 14 best result oriented graduates were awarded ‘Gold Medal’ in different categories.
The Chancellors Gold Medal winners are Zulfikar Ansary from Textile Engineering Department, Fahmida Emran Mumu of Master of Business Administration and Amena Khatun of Master of Science in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
Chairman's Gold Medal winners are Md. Iqbal Hossain from CSE, Tushar Kanti Kundu from Law, Sheik Mahafuzur Rahman from Law, Irin Parvin from Law, Mst. Jesmin Aktar from Phamacy and Shasanka Sheikhor Mandal from MPH department.

While addressing among the graduates Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid reminding the government ordinance about those universities who are conducting academic activities elsewhere instead of permanent campus said, Action will be taken against those who are violating the government ordinance.

Terming the private universities as a thrust sector of higher education, Nurul Islam Nahid said, some private universities are trying their best to ensure and improve the quality education and a large number of foreign students are also come to study in those universities. In this regard he mentioned a total of 1630 foreign students are studying in different universities of Bangladesh at present and it is remarkable around 250 foreign students are studying at Daffodil International University. He expressed his hope that the university would be able to produce quality and skilled manpower expanding high-tech quality education.

He also said, education is a power when it is applied to bring change in the society. He urged the fresh graduates to spread their light of achieved education towards those who are still behind the education.

Convocation Speaker Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail said, The degree in your hands will be an excellent springboard to launch your career and your life. Therefore it is imperative to plan your career carefully so as to give the best impact not only to yourself but your family community, ultimately the nation. Pertaining Career Planning, he offered some advice to the students like: setting a career goal, matching with job, joining in a professional association, networking and finally find mentor.
