Distinguished Guests at the Seminar on “Women's Rights Are Human Rights” held at Daffodil International University

Department of Law organized a seminar on Women’s Rights Are Human Rights”on December 10, 2015 in the International Human Rights Day as the closing part of the two weeks Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign that started on November 25, 2015. Advocate Hasina Rashid, General Secretary, Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) was present as the Guest of Honor. At this very seminar, Emeritus Professor, DIU, Dr. Aminul Islam was present as the Chief Guest. The seminar was also addressed by the Treasurer Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Professor A.M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences, Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business & Economics. The seminar was presided over by Ms. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Head of the Department of Law, Daffodil International University.

All the female faculty members and the female students dressed in orange color at the seminar as the symbol of recalling 2015 UN momentum “orange the world”. Daffodil believes in Women Empowerment which was reflected in these two weeks activities of Department of Law. At the end of the seminar different Human Rights activities and performances of the law students was shown to the audience as the part of the self assessment activity of the Department of Law. Distinguished women of different organizations along with 300 students made the Human Rights Day event very prosperous.

Department of Law of Daffodil International University engaged the students in two weeks Activism against Gender Based Violence Campaign from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, International Human Rights Day as the part of the initiative of the Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of Bangladesh. These steps were taken to stimulate action to end violence against women in Bangladesh as well as around the world.
