For gaining better practical experience, the students of Architecture Department of Daffodil International University completed a portion of their course of Construction Material and Systems at Housing and Building Research Institute (HBRI).
Two month long course started on 1st week of October 2015 through an Orientation program where Mr. Mohammad Abu Sadek PEng, Director of Housing and Building Research Institute was present as the chief guest. Course teacher from HBRI Mr. Akhter Hossain Sharkar and Course teacher from Department of Architecture, DIU, Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Rezwan & Ms. Sabrina Rahman were present at the orientation program. The course has covered both Theoretical classes and as well as Practical work including the topics: Tensile Strength & Elongation of M.S, Bar, Sieve Analysis of fine Aggregate and Course Aggregate, Concrete Cylinders (Casting & Testing), Compressive Strength of Concrete (Cylinder, Cube), Slump test, Design of concrete mix, Cement (Setting time (Initial & Final), Normal Consistency of water, Compressive Strength (3, 7, 28 days), Crushing Strength of Bricks, Ferrocement Technology, Alternative to Bricks

The Aim of the course is to bring the students beyond the theory class and to gain practical experience in real life situation. Earlier the students of this course also gained knowledge through some real life construction experience at DIU Permanent Campus at Asulia.
