Advocate Fawzia Karim Firoze, President of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) addressing as the chief guest at the seminar on “Elimination of Violence against Women”
Department of Law, Daffodil International University organized a special seminar on “Elimination of Violence against Women” as a part of two weeks Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign of Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on December 2, 2015 at DIU Auditorium. The aim of this seminar was to raise awareness among the students of Daffodil to bring about change to end gender based violence and to approach leadership among them so that they can come forward to stop the scourge.
Advocate Fawzia Karim Firoze, President of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) was present in the seminar as the chief guest. The seminar was also addressed by Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Proctor & Controller of Examinations and Professor A.M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences.
Addressing as the chief guest, Advocate Fawzia Karim Firoze criticized some of the existing laws and court proceedings of Bangladesh that make women more vulnerable and dependable. Prof. Yousuf M. Islam in his speech described how a woman can be the navigator of a family.

Faculty members of different Departments and the 400 students were united under the banner colour Orange, recalling 2015 UN momentum “to orange the world”. Orange light was everywhere throughout the program to illuminate young legal minds. At the end, Head of the Department uncovered the fact to the enthusiastic audience that Orange sign was used in every possible ways including foods as well to symbolize the brighter future of Bangladesh free from violence against women and girls.
