Mahanudunnobe and Fairuz Ishrat – two Bangladeshi Young Astrologers winning ‘Best Result’ in XI Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) in Bangladesh made the Olympiad glorious and remarkable one while Adishev Damir of Kazakhstan won the ‘Best Theoritical” award. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, Dr. M G Gavrilov, Chairman, International Astronomy Olympiad, Mr. Sawapon Kumar Roy, Director General, National Science & Technology Museum, Professor Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University, Mr. Alexander P Demin, Director, Russian Center of Science and Culture in Dhaka and Mr. Mashhurul Amin, Chairman, Bangladesh Astronomical Association were present as the special guests at the closing ceremony. Among the participants 3 from Bangladesh, 4 from Kazakhstan, 3 from Srilanka and one from Russia achieved Diploma.

XI Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) in Bangladesh ends today November 21, 2015 at Daffodil International University Permanent Campus at Ashulia, Dhaka. Bangladesh Astronomical Association, Daffodil International University, Cultural Department of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh and National Museum on Science & Technology organized this Astronomy Olympiad which started from 13-22 November, 2015 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

8 teams from Russia, Kazakisthan, Srilanka and host Bangladesh participated in the Astronomy Olympiad. The important issues included in the Olympiad were Space observation; determine the position of the stars in the sky, identifying their names and position, some practical works and study tour.
Addressing as the chief guest Mr. Alexander A Nikolaev said, Astronomy is very interesting subject to explore the space which creates great curiosity and enthusiasm among the students. He urged the participants to utilize the knowledge achieved from this Olympiad and to contribute the nation in Astronomical and space research in coming century.
