The Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University organized a seminar on “Scope and Opportunities of Public Health Education in Bangladesh” at College of Nursing in Dhaka Medical College Hospital on November 15, 2015 to create awareness about the role of Public Health Education.
Presided over by Mst. Sufia Khatun, Principal, College of Nursing, the seminar was addressed by Dr. Md. Shahjahan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Public Health and Dr. A B M Alauddin Chowdhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University. Dr Jacinta A Gomej and Mrs. Monoara Nasrin, Lecturer of Nursing College were also present, among others. More than one hundred B. Sc (Nursing) graduates and students of the college attended the seminar.
Speakers at the seminar underscored the need of higher education for nursing professional to improve the entire public health scenario and medical treatment of the country. They also said, since the field of Public Health is a multidisciplinary, nursing professional is a very important component of it. They can provide the majority of the care included in the basic package of clinical and public health services. Speakers highlighted the importance of MPH program in Daffodil International University as this program is maintaining quality of education and inspires nurses to effectively deliver nursing services in community settings. Mr. Mohd. Arifuzzaman, Sr coordination Officer of the Department of Public Health anchored the program.
