Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of XI Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO)
XI Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) kicks off in Bangladesh from November 14, 2015 at Daffodil International University Permanent Campus at Ashulia, Dhaka. Bangladesh Astronomical Association, Daffodil International University, Cultural Department of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh and National Museum on Science & Technology organize this Astronomy Olympiad which will be held from 13-22 November, 2015 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University will inaugurate the Astronomy Olympiad as chief guest. Dr. M. G. Gavrilov, Chairman, International Astronomy Olympiad, Mr. Andrey, 1st Secretary, Russian Embassy in Dhaka, Mr. Swapon Kumar Roy, Director General, National Science & Technology Museum, Professor Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University, Mr. Alexander P Demin, Director, Russian Center of Science and Culture in Dhaka and Mr. Mashhurul Amin, Chairman, Bangladesh Astronomical Association were present as the special guests at the opening ceremony. Guide Tour Ltd. will be an Associate with the event.
8 teams from Russia, Kazakisthan, Srilanka and host Bangladesh are participating in the Astronomy Olympiad. The important issues included in the Olympiad are Space observation; determine the position of the stars in the sky, identifying their names and position, some practical works and study.

Addressing as the chief guest Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, said, Olympiad always increases knowledge and creates opportunity to make a communication hub. Once upon a time, these participants of different countries may be each other’s colleagues. If we want to produce famous scientists, we will have to start working from school level and through this an interest towards the space will grow among them, which will help them to become a successful researcher added. He said, to discover the secrets of the space, such type of Olympiad is very important and Daffodil International University is very proud to be the partner of the Olympiad and he hoped that in future, Daffodil International University will extend its cooperation in such type of international event and research oriented activities.
