Dr. Binoy Barman, Director of Daffodil Institute of Languages (DIL) and Associate Professor, Department of English, Daffodil International University with Meena Media Award
Dr. Binoy Barman, Director of Daffodil Institute of Languages (DIL) and Associate Professor, Department of English, Daffodil International University, won the 11th Meena Media Award 2015 given by UNICEF in recognition of his outstanding contribution to children’s literature. He clinched the second prize in ‘print media creative work 18+’ category.
He received the award from Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Deputy Representative of UNICEF Bangladesh Louise Mvono and actress Arifa Zaman Moushumi at a prize distribution ceremony held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on 20 October 2015.
This year a total of 45 journalists and writers out of about 650 entries got the award, which is given for promoting children’s rights through writings and programs in radio, television, newspaper and online portal. Award nominees were selected by an expert panel of judges through a rigorous process from both print and broadcast media broadly divided into ‘creative’ and ‘journalistic’ for ‘under 18’ and ‘over 18’ age groups.
Dr. Binoy writes regularly in English and Bangla newspapers, both print and online, So far he has got more than 30 books to his credit. Previously, he got the Daily Star Celebrating Life Award, Rangpur Sahitya-Songskriti Parishad Sommanona, Kishoreganj Anirban Sahitya Puroskar and the International Conference on Tertiary Education Best Paper Award (DIU).
