In order to provide proper guidance and practical ideas about the career in the rapid growing field of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Bangladesh a workshop titled Career in the Hospitality Industry of Bangladesh was held on October 13, 2015 at DIU Auditorium. Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Daffodil International University organized the workshop. The workshop was presided over by Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, faculty of Business and Economics.

The main objective of the workshop was to encourage, motivate and share the practical knowledge on Hospitality Industry of Bangladesh. This session was designed and conducted by Mr. Sahabuddin Ahmad, Editor 'The Travel World’ and Mr. Fariaz Morshed Chowdhury, Assistant Director of Sales, Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Mahbub Parvez, Head, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ms. Khadizatul Kubra, Lecturer and other faculty members were also present in the session.
Mr. Shahabuddin Ahmed who has vast experience in the field of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, shared his professional experience of long time career in this sector. He said, comparatively Bangladesh has developed the Hospitality Industry than the previous years. Now besides our government, private sectors need to take initiatives to develop the sector of our country, because we need to keep in the trend of rapid growth of the sector in the world.

Mr. Fariaz Morshed Chowdhury shared his practical knowledge of this industry and discusses the future career of this industry. He said, the hospitality industry offers a wide variety of jobs surprisingly across a broad range of sectors, from hotels, restaurants and events to finance and luxury retail. It is considered one of the highest paid salaried jobs in the world. Then he showed on a slide the salary structure of the Hospitality Industry. At last he conducted a open discussion session.
In the workshop, they mainly focused on the successful way of achieving the desired goal and removing barriers of the hospitality industry. They also encouraged students to be affiliated with practical knowledge through developing network and acquiring essential skills of this sector. They emphasized to be skilled in the area of communication, gaining practical knowledge and so on.
