Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Daffodil International University organized a workshop on “Procurement Policies and Finance and Accounts” today on October 12, 2015 at DIU Banquet Hall. Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), HEQAP was present as chief guest while Professor Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, Vice Chancellor of the university and Professor Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor were present as special guest and guest of honor respectively. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Director, IQAC, presided over the session.

Technical sessions on ‘Procurement Policies under IQAC and Self Assessment’ and ‘Finance and Accounts under IQAC and Self Assessment’ were conducted by Ajay Kumar Chakraborty,(Deputy Secretary) Procurement Specialist, HEQAP and Ahmadul Haque, Finance Officer (Senior Assistant Secretary), HEQAP subsequently.
55 participants were present at two sessions. Prof. Dr. Engr. A.K.M. Fazlul Haque, Registrar, Md. Emran Hossain, Director (Administration), Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, Heads of different departments were present in the program.
While addressing , Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta stressed on the importance of ‘Procurement Policies and Finance and Accounts’ of IQAC project. They emphasized on standard procedures which guides through the different stages of the procurement and finance & accounting process, identify whether the process is progressing according to plan by comparing it to the standards and make changes as necessary within the margins they define.
Professor Dr. Yousuf M. Islam observed that the use of standard procedures helps in evaluating the contract-awarding process. Standardization of procedures is a crucial element in maintaining transparency, accountability, impartiality and fairness in the procurement process. They also highlighted the existence of standards which helps ensure that supplies are procured only from ethical sources with good track records.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali commented that for keeping records of all financial activities, maintaining financial activities and complies with proper accounting conventions are very important for any project.
