8th International Inter Varsity Cricket Invitational-2015 participating Daffodil International University Cricket Team members along with distinguished guests at the “Meet the Press”
Daffodil International University Cricket Team leaves for Malaysia tomorrow to participate in 8th International Inter Varsity Cricket Invitational-2015 to be held in Malaysia from October 10th -18th 2015 hosted by University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia. Six universities from different parts of the world including England, India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Bangladesh and host Malaysia will take part in the tournament. On the basis of the recent performance of the university in national level Daffodil International University got this invitation by the tournament organizer UKM.

A 16 member DIU Cricket Team lead by Mr. Ishaq Miji, Deputy Registrar and Manager of the team will leave for Malaysia tomorrow. ‘PRAN-Frooto’ is the Co-Sponsor of Daffodil International University Cricket team in this tournament. Daffodil International University (DIU) is competing in this tournament for the second time. Last year, Daffodil International University also participated in this tournament.

All these were informed the journalists today in a “Meet the Press” held at DIU Auditorium. Former Captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team Habibul Bashar Sumon, Opener Mehrab Hosain Opi, DIU student and National Cricket Team Opener Imrul Kayes were present at “Meet the Press” program as the guest of honor.
Presided over by Professor Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Pro- vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University, the Meet the Press was addressed by Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasure, DIU, Mr. Md. Atiqur Rahman, Head of Marketing, Pran Beverage Ltd. Dr. Kamal Pasha, Adviser, DIU Sports Club, Mr. Manjurul Islam Raju, Mr. Md. Ishaq Miji, Manager of the DIU Cricket Team and Islam Uddin (Captain).

While addressing the press conference Professor Dr. M. Golam Rahman said, Since its inception, Daffodil International University to flourish the students merit and creativity, stressed on sports, co- curricular and extra-curricular activities besides education and very soon the university is going to introduce 4 years Bachelor program on Sports Science. He said, Comparatively Bangladesh is a head regarding all sorts of Human Development Index from the neighboring countries and for overall development we need to stress more on local and international sports.

He also said, Sports must have to bring with the practice of people and mass people will have to be deeply involved and attracted by this practice. Technology has given a lot of facilities but, similarly destroyed our humanities and social values also, he added. He urged the players to uphold and regain those humanities and social values through sports. He thanked ‘Pran Frooto’ to be the Co-Sponsor of Daffodil International University and hoped in future ‘Pran Frooto’ will extend their cooperation in organizing such type of tournament locally.
Former Captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team Habibul Basahr Sumon said, Infrastructural facilities for cricket in Daffodil International University contribute a lot in national development and international level tournament could be arranged here. Daffodil International University from the very beginning has proven track records of success history in national and international level and through this Endeavour Daffodil International University advanced one step ahead in international arena. He provided some tips for the player and urged to keep up the sports man spirit and uphold country’s reputation and image as well as dignity of our national flag through success.
