Keeping with the mission and the sense of excellence in the pursuit of knowledge, two day long “Bangladesh Summit, Featuring Google for Education 2015” began today on February 27, 2015 at Daffodil International University. Mr. Shyam Sunder Sikder, Secretary ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology inaugurated the summit today as chief guest at DIU Auditorium. Presided over by Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, the function was also addressed by Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro- Vice Chancellor,Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, Prof. Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Haque, Registrar, Professor Dr. Syed Akter Hossain, Convener of the summit and Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Daffodil International University. Robi Axiota Ltd. is the support partner of the summit.

Mr. David Apas, Google Education Trainer from Thailand, Mr. John Gary Garcia, Google Certified Teacher from Philippines conducted the sessions focused on Google Apps for Education which includes knowledge share sessions on Google products like Google Earth, YouTube for Educations, Google Search, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, Google sites, Google Chrome, Google Forms, and Gmail etc.
A total of 300 participants from 42 institutions in different categories including teachers, students and professionals are attending the summit. The attendees will get a life time opportunity to evolve with most promising Google education tools and receive certificates and awards.

Addressing as the chief guest ICT Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder said, organizing this type of technology based summit plays an important role to enrich the country and there is no alternate of it to build a meritorious, technology oriented and knowledge based society. Google isn’t just a search engine; it is also storage of immense information and knowledge. Young generation will have to visit this storage to quench the thirst of their knowledge, he added. He thanked Daffodil International University authority to arrange such type of summit to inform the teaching and learning system of upcoming days to our young generation.

In his presidential address Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International University said, Daffodil International University has given priority on technology as the tools of education from the beginning. Daffodil International University is the pioneer of introducing google classroom for students in Bangladesh. For the demand of new era, now teaching method isn’t bounded within boundary of class rooms. Now a day, anyone can take lessons from anywhere any time and for this Google is a unique platform where enriched contents are uploaded and updated.
