Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor accompanied with other high officials of Daffodil International University placing floral wreaths at the central shahid minar of Daffodil International University at permanent campus at Ashulia on the occasion of 21st February the International Mother Language Day.
With great enthusiasm and due respect, Daffodil International University (DIU) observed 21st February the ‘Amar Ekushey’ and International Mother Language Day and paid tribute to the martyrs of the language movement. To mark the day, Daffodil International University chalked out elaborate program including seminar on “Inclusive Education through and with language- language matters”, discussion, Photo Exhibition, Cultural program and rally followed by placing floral wreaths to Central Shaheed Minar at permanent campus of the university at Ashulia.
Early in the morning the students, teachers, Air Rover scouts and officers of the university brought out a rally from the academic building and gathered to Central Sheed Minar lead by Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the university. Then floral wreaths in favour of Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor, Faculty Members, students and administration were placed at the Shahid Minar and paid tribute to the martyrs of historic Language movement who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of Bangla as one of the state language of erstwhile Pakistan in 1952.
The rally was also attended by Prof. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ismail Mostafa, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciencs,
Prof. Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Haque,Prof. Dr. Golam Maowla Choudhury- Controller of Examinations and Proctor, Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Director (Permanent Campus), Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain- Director ( International Affairs) and all the Head of the departments and high officials of the university.

To mark the day UNESCO (Bangladesh Office), UNIC Dhaka Office and Directorate of Student Affairs of Daffodil International University organized a seminar on “Inclusive Education through and with language- language matters” at DIU Auditorium. Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest while Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of DIU, Language Researchers Prof. Dr. Begum Jahanara of Dhaka University were present as the special guests. Presided over by Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Director (Student Affairs), the seminar was also addressed by Md. Moniruzzaman, In-Charge, UNIC Dhaka Office and Ms. Kizzy Tahnin.Programme Officer (Culture), UNESCO, Bangladesh.

Speakers advised the students to be more careful about proper spelling, pronunciation and application of Bengali language in all aspects of life and uphold the dignity of mother tongue building a strong base of Bengali language in the core of heart. They also said, there is none but, Banglalees have created an example in the world sacrificing their lives for their beloved mother language and based on their sacrifice international community has declared 21st February as International Mother Language Day which is a great pride for us as a nation and now 21st February is being observed all over the members countries of United Nations. So we have to play the vital role and show great respect to Mother Language which would be the role model for other nations.
