Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Former Deputy Governor Bangladersh Bank addressing as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of 2nd DFH-DIUDC National Inter-varsity Debate competition began today at Daffodil International University.
Focusing the slogan “Torko noy Jukti e hok agamir mulniti, prisphut hook somostic orthniti” - a 3 day long “2nd DFH- DIUDC National Inter University Debate Competition -2015” was inaugurated today February 18, 2015 at Daffodil International University Auditorium. Dr. Saleuddin Ahmed, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank inaugurated the competition as the chief guest. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice- Chancellor, Daffodil International University, Dr. Safik Uzzaman and Dr. mm Akash of Economics Department of Dhaka University were present as the special guests. The program was also addressed among others by Mohammed Rashedul Hasan, Moderator, DIU DC, Abdullah Al Junaid, Chief Coordinator, Debate for Humanities and S M Mezbaur Rahman.
Debate for Humanities and DIU Debating Club of Daffodil International University are jointly organizing this festival. The festival will continue from February 18- 20, 2015 at DIU Auditorium. More than 300 participants comprising 32 teams from 21 different public and private universities from all over the country are participating in the festival.
Speaking as chief guest, Dr. Saleuddin Ahmed said that debate is an important element in developing talent and genius. It is important not only to know something but also to present it properly. The positive change in our political culture can be brought about only the rational young generation. The personalities who appear in different TV talk shows were good debaters in their educational life, he added.
He called upon the students to get involved in debate program and groom them up as worthy speakers modeling internationally reputed personalities.
