Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University is addressing at the seminar on “Creating awareness on Cyber Security and ICT Act” jointly organized by ICT Division of Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and ICT, Insight Bangladesh Foundation and Daffodil International University on February 17, 2015 at DIU Auditorium.
A seminar titled “Creating awareness on Cyber Security and ICT Act” jointly organized by ICT Division of Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and ICT, Insight Bangladesh Foundation and Daffodil International University was held on today on February 17, 2015 at DIU Auditorium. The seminar was organized as a part of the government’s nationwide awareness program on ICT Act in different levels. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present at the inaugural session of the seminar as chief guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University and Ms. Mahabuba Panna, Deputy Secretary & Program Director (Cyber Security) of ICT Division of Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and ICT were present as special guest while Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and ICT presided over the seminar. Prof. Dr. Syed Akter Hossain, Head, Department of CSE, delivered the welcome address. Engr. Tanveer Hassan Zoha, Vice President and Mr. Atiqul Islam Khan, Director, Insight Bangladesh Foundation delivered technical speech at the seminar with a power point presentation.
Speakers under scored the necessity of ensuring protection of each and every website and in this regard they sought cooperation for raising awareness on cyber security in the country, mentioning pleasure for someone may bring agony for others. That’s why they stressed to protect myself first and then ensure others protection.
A partial view of the audience
It was informed in the seminar that Cyber Security course was first introduced as a part of Computer Science under National University in 1996 and later in different public and private universities. They urged the government to form a syllabus at school, college and university level to raise awareness about cyber crime. They hoped that the seminar would be effective in knowledge development of the students.
