at the seminar on “Enriching Open Source and local content Future ahead” held at Daffodil International University
To work in Google Translate and to contribute Bangla Translate in Google Daffodil International University (DIU) and Google Developers Group (GDG) Bangla jointly organized a seminar on “Enriching Open Source and local content: Future ahead” in association with Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) held on February 08, 2015 at DIU auditorium. Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University (DIU) was present at the seminar as chief guest. Mr. Arne Mauser, Software Engineer, Google Translator, Google was present at the seminar as keynote speaker. The seminar was addressed by Professor Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, DIU, Dr. Khan Mohammad Anawarus Salam, Country Engineering Consultant for Bangladesh Google, Mr. Munir Hasan, General Editor, Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and Mr. Jabed Sultan Piyash, Manager, Google Developers Group Bangla. Professor Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, DIU presided over the seminar. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International University and Mr. Roger Latchman, Deputy Chairman, World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA) were also present at the seminar.
In the seminar the speakers stressed that, in 21st Century, Knowledge based economy we need the local contest to prepare all the citizens to capitalize the opportunities. Google Translation is taking the translation platform into crowd sourcing mode. So now it is our responsibilities to contribute to get better translation. It is also very easy to contribute in give translation both as translator and verifier. It was informed in the seminar that Daffodil International University will also arrange a Google Translation Camp in coming week. About 200 students from different Departments of DIU attended the seminar. The seminar was conducted by Md. Ashraful Alam Raj and Ms. Susmita Saha students from the Department of CSE, DIU.
