Mr. Roger Latchman, Deputy Chairman, World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA) visited Daffodil International University today on February 08, 2015 during his three day visit to Bangladesh from February 07-09, 2015. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and Chairman, Global Trade Committee of WITSA welcome him at Daffodil International University. Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Haque, Registrar, Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Director (Permanent Campus), Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director (International Affairs) of Daffodil International University were also present during his visit. Mr. Roger Latchman was given a brief presentation on Daffodil International University and he expressed his great satisfaction on digitalization of academic and administrative activities.
It may be mentioned here that Daffodil International University (DIU) had been honored with Merit Award in WITSA 2014 Global ICT Excellence Awards. World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), the largest international ICT organization had conferred the award in World Congress on Information Technology 2014 (WCIT 2014) at the WCIT 2014 on September 30, 2014 at in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The award was given to DIU for setting an example as the Digitized University in Bangladesh, for contributing to the ICT Sector by Inspiring community to the use of ICT; Developing Human Resources in the ICT Sector; for the inclusion of rural students; the "One Student One Laptop" program through which every student are getting free laptop for Academic Purposes; for organizing events and contests to encourage IT talents; Job Tracking Systems, Learning Feedback Systems, Online Teaching Evaluation Systems, and more.
DIU is the first ever university in Bangladesh to win the award which is said as the Nobel award for ICT sector worldwide.
