Department of Law, Daffodil International University has organized a five-in-one mega event on December 10, 2014 marking the International Human Rights Day at the DIU auditorium. The mega event comprised of five programs, e.g. fresher’s reception for the newly admitted students of 22nd batch, honoring the four newly enrolled advocates, unveiling the wall magazine on human rights, declaration of the 2nd executive committee of Daffodil Moot Court Society (DMCS) and a cultural program. Before that the students of LL.M joined a rally on International Human Rights Day with the Human Rights Commission Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman.

The first formal session of the program, i.e. Orientation Fall 2014, started at 2:30pm with recital from the Holy Quran. Then the DIU theme song and a documentary on DIU were played. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean, FHSS, Founder Vice-Chancellor and Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul, Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Proctor and Controller of Examination were present at the program. Ms. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Law, presided over the program.

Addressing as chief guest, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Daffodil International University urged the newly enrolled law students to be attentive to their studies and disciplined in their lives to reach their desired career goals. He also advised the students not only to be good lawyers but also to be good human beings. Professor Dr. Md. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean, FHSS has focused on the strength of the Law Department which falls under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science. He also said that the law students are very proactive and always keep themselves busy with some activities for the betterment of themselves and for the society as well. Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Proctor and Controller of Examination has reiterated the importance of discipline in a student’s life and explained the basic rules regarding examinations and etiquettes expected from DIU students. Founder Vice Chancellor and Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam said law is a fantastic subject to study and DIU Law Department has been successfully catering to the needs of the students with excellent faculty members and state of the art academic facilities.

At the second session, Founder Vice Chancellor, Pro Vive Chancellor & Head of the Department handed over crests to the four former DIU Law students who have recently been enrolled as advocates with Bangladesh Bar Council.

At the third session, a Wall Magazine on Human Rights marking the International Human Rights Day was unveiled by the two distinguished guests Brigadier General (Rtd.) M Mofizur Rahman & Md Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan, Ph.D, SP, Special Security & Protection Battalion, amidst the students and faculty member who were engaged with the preparation of the wall magazine.They both expressed their gratification and praised the organizers of the program.

At the fourth session, the names of the members of the 2nd Executive Committee of Daffodil Moot Court Society (DMCS) were declared by the Founder & Chief Advisor of DMCS, Madam Farhana Helal Mehtab and all students welcomed them with round of applause.

The fifth and last session  of the event was a cultural program organized by the students of Department of law, DIU. At the cultural program, students performed songs, dances, audience quiz & ramp. The cultural Program started with Indigenous dance and ended with the thanks giving by the head of the Department.
