Daffodil International University paid glowing tributes to the country’s founding president and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in observing his 39th martyre-dom anniversary and National Mourning Day today on August 16, 2014 with due respect recalling the August 15, 1975 carnage, when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed along with most of his family members.

The national flag was hoisted at half-mast as the sun rises on August 15 at DIU main campus as well as permanent campus. As a part of this programme marking the occasion a discussion meeting and munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls at the Auditorium of Daffodil International University. Lt. Col ( Rtd.) Abu Osman Chowdhury, Commander, Sector-8, Bangladesh Liberation War-1971 was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil. Presided over by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University, Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam was present as the special guest at the program. The discussion meeting was addressed Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahbub-Ul Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology and Prof. Dr. Khairul Anam, Head, Department of Architecture.
The function was attended by all the Head of the Departments and Deans of different Faculties. A Large number of Faculty members, Officers, employees and students were present on the occasion.
