To ensure the practice of Koha-ILS & MARC21 for the better and smooth operation of Library in most of the colleges and universities and to bring libraries of all universities under the same platform of “Koha-ILS and MARC 21” a three day long workshop on “Automation of Information Institution using Koha-ILS and MARC 21” was organized from May 03-05, 2014 at Daffodil International University (DIU). To increase the image of the Daffodil International University throughout the country, DIU Library in association with jobsbd.com organized the workshop.

Dr. Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor and Founder Vice Chancellor, DIU was present in closing ceremony and distributed certificates among the participants as chief guest while Dr. M. Nasiruddin Munshi, Professor, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka & President, Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB) was present as special guest. Addressing as the chief guest Founder Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University AND Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam said, a strong library is the main strength of a quality university and the role of library is very important for a university. He said that Daffodil International University library is fully automated and supported by software and advanced IT facilities developed by the university itself. He also said that Daffodil International University is the only university in Bangladesh who came forward for the first time to remove the Language barriers of Koha through Software department and we could remove almost 95% of the barriers.
While addressing Professor Munshi requested DIU authority to continue the workshop for the betterment of the library professionals as well as to enhance the image of DIU library. LAB president was encouraged to the library professionals for participating in the workshop. He expressed that it was my duty to organize such type of workshop rather it was organized and successfully completed by DIU Library.
A Total of 20 participants from different public and private universities and institutions from all over the country attended the workshop.
