The Launching Ceremony of Faculty of Engineering of Daffodil International University was held on 31 March, 2014. Presided over by Prof. Dr. M. Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University graced the ceremony as the chief guest while Emeritus Professor of DIU Professor Dr. Aminul Islam was present as the special guest.

A seminar entitled by “Quality Engineering Education in Bangladesh” was also held by following it. Professor Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Former VC, BUET and VC of AUST was present as keynote speaker of this seminar. Professor Mashud Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Textile Manufacturing Engineering, BUTEX was present as a discussant.
Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology welcomed to all honorable guests. After that Emeritus Professor of DIU Professor Dr. Aminul Islam delivered his valuable speech. Emphasizing the importance of the Engineering education he told that hidden cause of any branch of technology is education. He depicted that there is no way without education. He quoted some of the quotes from Dr. Salam, Nobel Laurate in Physics. In addition he mentioned many others quotations from various education scientists.

As a Keynote speaker, Professor Dr. A.M.M Safiullah focused on the parameters of quality engineering educations. Again, he discussed about the different standard conditions of different standardized organizations to qualify engineering education. He shared a philosophical thought that during graduation a student learns how to learn. After the graduation, he starts journey to learn and it continues whole lifetime.
Professor Mashud told that student and teacher both are learners. Teachers are first learner and students are second learners. At first a teacher should learn engineering education, then he can be able to teach students. As one of the basic human needs, education develops the civilization more and more everyday. As the outcomes of education and valuable research, many technologies are invented and civilization comes up to this era.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman gave his speech as a chief guest. Then Professor Dr. M. Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering delivered the concluding speech of the seminar. He shared the policies of this faculty with the audiences. Finally, Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Haque, Assoiciate Profesor and Head, Dept. of ETE expressed the heartiest thanks and finished the program.
