President Abdul Hamid on Sunday underscored the need for ensuring quality education in private universities as well as proper facilities for their students.The President said this when a delegation of Daffodil International University (DIU), led by its Board of Trustees Chairman Md. Sabur Khan, met him at Bangabhaban.The other members of the delegation were Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. M. Mizanur Rahman - Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Haque-Registrar and Mr. Mohammed Emran Hossain- Director ( Administration) of Daffodil International University.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the President about the preparation of the university's 4th convocation to be held on March 6 on its campus at Ashulia where a total of 3,252 students will be conferred upon graduation and post-graduation degrees.
The delegation apprised the President that world renowned Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder of well-known Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology University (KIIT) in Odisha, India will attend the function as the convocation speaker. They also informed the President, who is also Chancellor of the university, that the university has built its own campus on 40 acres of land in Ashulia with the facilities of all popular sports.
Some 12,000 students are currently studying at the university and of them 4,800 received free laptops, they added.The delegation informed the President that the university has introduced a four-year graduation course on entrepreneurship with a view to increasing the number of young entrepreneurs in the country.
President Abdul Hamid appreciated the university's efforts to offer quality education. Secretaries concerned of the President office were present.
