To prepare the students for the 21st century and to adapt them to the latest ICT friendly education which will develop their knowledge, skills and abilities to fit globally, Daffodil International University distributed 500 Laptop today on September 25, 2013 at free of cost  among the students in the seventh phase at its continuous process of Laptop distribution. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and President, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) was present on the Laptop Distribution Program as the chief guest. Presided over by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor the function was also addressed by Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Golam Mawola Choudhury, Controller of Examinations and Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director (Student Affairs).

The authority of Daffodil International University has taken a gigantic initiative of “One Student: One Laptop” program which is one step a head for digital Bangladesh. Every student admitted into Daffodil International University from Summer Semester-2010 and onward is getting a Laptop at free of cost. The Laptop will help the students to equip themselves with proper technical knowledge so that they can survive and secure respectable place in the society. Through this initiative DIU students will get the opportunity to implement digital Bangladesh concept

Addressing as the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University said, It was a long cherished dream of the university authority to implement the project “One Student-One Laptop” with the vision of becoming a Digital University in line with the policy of Digital Bangladesh. He also said, as an essential part and contemporary demand of modern education, DIU has focused on ICT automation facilities for students and employees since its inception. He urged the students to be a potential ICT skilled graduate to contribute to the nation.   It is envisaged that DIU graduates can stand out by competing with other graduates both nationally and globally with their skill that they will acquire from this university. He wished that the initiate to provide a laptop for each student free of cost will be fruitful and successful with the mission of forgoing a digital society that will ensure an ICT driven knowledge- based nation.

Addressing among the students Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman said, we, at the present context of Bangladesh, are more than visionary. In the same time we want to make our ideas come true. Leaving all constraints behind, DIU is going for distributing free laptops among all our students in a time when IT backbone of the university is fully equipped with a spectrum of facilities available for students. He hoped that it will be so easy and reachable to the students to use Education ERP of DIU, Learning Feedback System (Social Web), E- Library of the university, DIU Forum and so on which have already been developed by the university.
