Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University addressing as the chief guest at the seminar on Understanding Gender Perspectives in Climate changes Issue and Academic Responsibilities

A seminar on “Understanding Gender Perspectives in Climate Change Issue and Academic Responsibilities” was held at Daffodil International University on July 20, 2013 at DIU Auditorium jointly organized by Center for Global Change & Department of Environmental Science of Daffodil International University. Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present in the seminar as the chief guest. Presided over by Dr. Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor of Daffodil International University, the keynote paper in the seminar was presented by Dr. Ahsan Uddin Ahmed, Executive Director, Centre for Global Change. Ms. Sharmind Neelormi, Director, Centre for Global Change also spoke in the seminar.

The speakers in the seminar said, Being the most vulnerable country under climate change, Bangladesh need to prepare herself well ahead and they stressed on need of the priorities for adaptation and mitigation. Apart from contributing to policy level, they underscored the need to make the future generation not only aware of climate change issues but also make a critical mass of climate change scientists. In the process of developing academic discussions, they also urged to integrate climate change issues in the course curriculum at tertiary level. It has huge employment potential at national and international level. 

 They also opined that as a well known reputed education institute in Bangladesh, Daffodil International University would contribute to climate change discourse through strengthening its capacity to educate students on this issue and prepare its students to contribute to climate change related activities at near future.
