The orientation program for the newly enrolled undergraduate students in Spring-2013 of the department of Pharmacy of Daffodil International University was held today on April 27, 2013 at DIU Auditorium. Mr. Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, President, Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society and Chairman, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was present as the chief guest while Professor Dr. M. Mizanur Rahman, Treasurer (Acting Vice Chancellor) was present as the special guest. Presided over by Dr. Zakia Sultana Sathi, Head, Department of Pharmacy, Emeritus Professor and Founder Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Dr. Aminul Islam was present on the occasion as guest of honor. The function was also addressed by Professor Dr. Shah Muhammad Keramot Ali, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, Professor Dr. Selim Reza, Advisor, Department of Pharmacy and Mr. Muhammad Arifur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy. The orientation program was moderated by Najmun Nahar Rakhia and Nahian Firoze – both the students of Pharmacy department.

Addressing as the chief guest Mr. Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee said, there is enough scope and career opportunity of a pharmacist in our society as there is huge demand of pharmacists in job market, not only in Bangladesh, but also in European and other western countries. Job opportunity is available in this profession. He said only 5% pharmacist’s works in production line, more than 95% works in other areas. He urged that the students to uphold social values and morality besides academic learning and mould professional ethics among themselves from now to be a good pharmacist to contribute to the society.

Addressing as the special guest Acting Vice Chancellor and Treasurer of Daffodil International University Prof. Dr. M. Mizanur Rahaman said, Commitment, Transparency and Quality of Education are key the components of Daffodil International University and its competencies. DIU provides its students best available resources to pursue their studies and to achieve their skills. He welcomed the newly enrolled students and said that three major things such as discipline, honesty and quality of education are the major ingredients of success of life. To be a complete citizen of the country he advised the students to achieve those virtues.
