The speakers stressed on the implementation of UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People’s 2007 and also underscored the need to fulfill the commitment of the government, expressed in the NSAPR, to ratify the Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention 1989. They said these while addressing at a seminar. International Labor Organization( ILO) and Department of Law of Daffodil International University jointly organized a seminar on “International Human Rights Instruments on Indigenous Peoples and implementation in Bangladesh’’ on March 25, 2013 at DIU Auditorium.
Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Chairman, National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh was present in the seminar as chief guest while Prof. Dr. M. Mizanur Rahman, Treasurer, Daffodil International University was present as the special guest. Mr. Sanjeeb Drong, General Secretary, Bangladesh Adivasi Forum and Mr. Abhilash Tripura, National Coordinator, ILO, Bangladesh were the resource persons of the seminar.
Presided over by Ms. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Head, Department of Law, DIU, the seminar was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Golam Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, DIU.
