To achieve sustainable growth in farming and agriculture, Daffodil International University (DIU) in Cooperation with Bremen University & Bonn University of Germany and Griffith University, Australia organized a workshop on “Rural Enterprise Development” on 29th December 2012 at DIU auditorium. Professor Anu Muhammad Anisur Rahman, Department of Economics, Jahangirnagar University was present as chief guest while Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor, Daffodil International University was present as inaugurator and Chairperson. The keynote speaker of the workshop was Dr. Moazzem Hossain, Senior Lecturer, Griffith Business School, Griffith University, Australia.
The workshop consists of four sessions. The first session was inaugural session, the second session was panel discussion in participation of distinguished practitioners from different sectors, the third session was the presentation of selected research projects and the fourth session was group work.
While delivering the keynote presentation Dr. Hossain said that it is important that the rural enterprise needs meaningful development for supporting the huge rural population. He also said that the development will be a stepping stone to bring further reform in rural Bangladesh.
Introduction was given by Prof. Dr. Engr. Bibhuti Roy, Bremen University, Germany; Adviser & Visiting Faculty, DIU, Objectives & Possible Outcome was given by Dr. Mazharul M. Islam Rana, Senior Research Fellow, University of Bonn, Germany.
In the second session Dr. Moazzem Hossain was the facilitator while co-facilitator was Prof. Dr. Bibhuti Roy and Dr. M.M. Islam Rana. In the session short presentation of the papers submitted by Researchers where sessions chair was Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, Department of Business Administration, Daffodil International University. In the fourth session, the theme of the group work was ‘Model of Rural Enterprise’ where session chairs was Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Daffodil International University.
