Rally jointly organized by Daffodil International University and Dhaka Metropolitan Police
Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Daffodil International University jointly organized a Anti Drug Campaign and Blood Donation program at University premises today on September 25, 2012 holding the slogan “ Rokte Mora Badhan Gori- Rokto Debo Jibon Vori” . The program included Anti Drug Rally, Blood Donation, Discussion session and Cultural program.

Abdul Jalil, Additional Police Commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police was present as chief guest while Barrister Mahabubur Rahman,Joint Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metro Politan Police was present as special guest at the Anti- Drug Rally and Blood Donation program. Presided over by Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University the function was also addressed by Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the University. The function was conducted by Assistant Police Commissioner (Welfare) R.M. Foyzur Rahman and university students Taposhi RTabeya.

Addressing as the chief guest Additional Police Commissioner Abdul Jalil said, Dug addiction is the mother of all crimes. So, if drug is controlled, it is possible to reduce all sorts of crimes in the society and for that he urged to work all together to control drug abuse. Urging the students to build a tobacco and drug free society, he said it is possible to quit the adverse affect of drug addiction from the society if the students can flourish their mind with sound education. He said Control the drug abuse is not one’s single commitment or no individual institution’s commitment; it is the national or social commitment for all. So, it requires participation of all walks of people to reduce the abuse of drugs from the society. He also said, Police is not apart from public –they are also part of public, So they want to work together and for this DMP started ‘Police Blood Bank’ in 2010 to serve the society.
At the president’s speech Md. Sabur Khan said, Strong will power and strong determination can play a vital role to avoid drug addiction. Mentioning Daffodil International University as a tobacco and drug free university he said, friend circle can play a vital role to prevent addiction of their friends. He urged the students to be careful about the technical addiction of current days, especially Social networking and cyber uses besides drug addiction. In this regards, he urged the guardians to be more careful, close and attentive to their children while using computer and laptop.
Earliar the students brought out a colorful Rally from the campus which surrounded the main streets of Rasel Square and Dhanmondi Area ended in the campus. Around 200 students donated their blood at the program. Besides blood donation program members of DMP Cultural Club and DIU Cultural Club presented cultural events at the auditorium.
