To ensure the practice of Koha-ILS & MARC21 for the better and smooth operation of Library in most of the colleges and universities a two day long workshop on “Automation of Information Institution using Koha-ILS and MARC 21” was organized from July 13-14, 2012 at Daffodil International University (DIU). DIU Library in association with Jobsbd.com organized the workshop.

Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International university Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest while Professor Dr. M. Nasiruddin Munshi , Dept. of Information Science and Library Management--University of Dhaka, President--Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB) was present as the special guest. Presided over by Prof. Dr. Golam Maowla Chowdhury, Controller of Examinations & Chairman, Library Committee the program was also addressed by Mr. Milan Khan, Librarian of Daffodil International University. The program was conducted by Mr. Omar Faruk, Assistant Librarian, DIU.

Addressing as the chief guest Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman said, a strong library is the main strength of a quality university and the role of library is very important for a university. He said that Daffodil International University library is fully automated and supported by software and advanced IT facilities developed by the university itself. He also said that Daffodil International University is the only in Bangladesh who came forward to remove the Language barriers of Koha through Software department and we could remove almost 95% of the barriers.

While addressing Professor Munshi requested DIU authority to continue the workshop for the betterment of the library professionals as well as to enhance the image of DIU library. LAB president was encouraged to the library professionals for participating in the workshop. He expressed that it was my duty to organize such type of workshop rather it was organized and successfully completed by DIU Library.

A Total of 22 participants from different public and private universities and institutions from all over the country attended the workshop.
