Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Vice Chancellor (acting) DIU is distributing certificate among the participants of Swinburne's Study Tour 2024: The Mobile and Digital Storytelling Festival in Bangladesh organized by Department of Journalism, Media and Communication and International Affairs of Daffodil International University with support from the New Colombo Plan of Australian Government.
A two-week program, Swinburne's Study Tour 2024: The Mobile and Digital Storytelling Festival in Bangladesh, jointly facilitated by the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, DIU and International Affairs, DIU, with support from the New Colombo Plan of Australian Government, concluded with a grand celebration.
22 Swinburne University of Technology, Australia students and 2 faculty members collaborated with their peers from Daffodil International University, exploring mobile and digital storytelling. Workshops on mobile journalism, filmmaking, and scriptwriting equipped them with new skills, while industry visits provided valuable insights into Bangladesh's media landscape. For instance, today's industry visit saw Swinburne University of Technology students exploring the Prothom Alo Office, Chorki Headquarters, and the Bangladesh Film Archive. They also visited various locations around Dhaka to shoot documentaries, interview locals, and edit their footage.
The program ended with the ‘Project Celebration & Bangladesh-Australia Cultural Night,’ a special event where students presented their projects through cultural performances, project presentations, and a grand mix of music, dance, and film screenings, celebrating the rich cultures of both Bangladesh and Australia. Swinburne University of Technology student Nancarrow shared, ‘It's been a great journey together. We made a documentary, visited many historical places, and shared our cultures. It's been really interesting.’
‘This program has been transformative,’ shared Dr. Max Schleser, Associate Professor in the Department of Film, Games, and Animation at Swinburne University of Technology. "Students honed skills, built friendships, and gained a deeper understanding of both countries' cultures."
Certificates of appreciation were given to the participants and organizers during the event. Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Vice Chancellor (acting) DIU, expressed his gratitude, saying, ‘Thank you to everyone for making this event a success. We hope to make this kind of tour happen once again.’
