Teachers and students of Daffodil International University brought out a Rally at Daffodil Smart City to mark the “World Environment Day 2024”

 

With a view to create mass awareness for conservation of nature and environment Daffodil International University (DIU) observed “World Environment Day 2024”.  Based on the theme on “Land Restoration, desertification and drought resilience”  and slogan ‘Generation  Restoration’   to mark the day DIU chalked out elaborate programs including Rally, Discussion Session, tree plantation and Cleaning campaign. Department of Agricultural Science, Environmental Science and Disaster Management (ESDM) and Office of the Future DIU jointly organized the programs on 5th June 2024 at the Daffodil Smart City.

 Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest while Prof. Dr. S M Mahbub-Ul haque Mazumder, Pro Vice Chancellor was present as the special guest. Moderated by Professor Dr. M A Rahim, Head, Department of Agricultural Science, the program was addressed by Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain, Associate Dean, Faculty of Health and Life Science, Dr. A B M Kamal Pasha, Head, Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, Prof. Dr. A B M Aluddin Chowdhury, Head, Department of Public Health, Dr. Nizam Uddin, Head, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ferdousi of IUBAT and  Professor Dr. Rezaul Karin of Bangladesh Television,

Speakers said, our existence depends on the balance of the environment. We also need to be more conscious about nature and environment conservation.  Speakers shed light on how they intend to move forward in connecting with the environment as part of departmental activities. "Earth is our only habitable place and we can't really play with it," they said. Speakers urged the new generation to to restore the environment to make development sustainable for the betterment of people who depend on the nature for their livelihood and plant more trees and increase the oxygen level to keep the world safe and preserve the environment.
