Professor Dr. Haseena Khan, Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, distributing awards among the researchers at the "Research Award Giving Ceremony 2024" organized by the Division of Research, FGS.

 Daffodil International University (DIU) celebrated a major research achievement with 1,141 Scopus-indexed research papers, underscoring its commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing societal needs through quality journal articles, need-based research, community upgrading, patent development, and book chapters in 2023. These achievements not only elevate the university's reputation but also contribute to societal development through the application of research findings in practical contexts. DIU is ranked first among private universities in Bangladesh for the above-mentioned Scopus publications and second among all public and private universities in Bangladesh. This prestigious event honors the extraordinary research achievements of our departments, faculty, students, and alumni over the past year.

To recognize the contributions of faculty members, students, and alumni, the Division of Research under the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) organized the "Research Award Giving Ceremony 2024" on May 20, 2024, at the International Conference Hall of the university, Daffodil Smart City, Dhaka. Professor Dr. Haseena Khan, Honorable Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, graced the event as the Chief Guest for the ceremony and distributed awards among the departments, faculty members, and students.

The program was also addressed by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU; Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor of DIU; and Prof. Dr. Md Kabirul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) of Daffodil International University.

 In recognition of quality journal publications, awards went to the Department of Pharmacy, Department of Development Studies, Department of Public Health, and Department of Software Engineering. In recognition of industry collaboration, and community development securing foreign funding, the Department of EEE and the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) were awarded respectively. The Department of CSE was awarded for engaging the highest number of students in their research activities and preparing the students for their higher studies in the future. The Best Faculty Research Award (individual category) went to Nuruzzaman Faruqui of the Software Department and Nizam Uddin of the Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering. In recognition of the highest number of scholarly publications as a student, an award went to Shopnil Akash, a student of the Pharmacy Department.

Professor Dr. Haseena Khan urged the professors and researchers to work and publish in areas that can contribute to making Bangladesh a Smart Nation and lead it to become a developed nation by 2041. She emphasized the application of research outcomes in practical contexts and patent development.

 The Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, urged the researchers to pursue patents and create commercial outcomes and opportunities from their work. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman informed that the university has allocated 25 crores in the research budget this year. Nearly 1.5 crores taka was distributed among the researchers as recognition of their significant number of publications in highly indexed journals, international research collaboration and networking, and patent development in 2023.
