Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University organized a Plenary Session on Blue Economy: Challenges & Opportunities at International Conference Hall of the university on 24 April 2024 at Daffodil Smart City, Birulia, Savar, Dhaka. The session was graced by Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Daffodil International University as the Chief Guest; Professor Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Director (Research), Techno India University, West Bengal, India as the Keynote speaker; Professor Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Rector, Techno India University, West Bengal, India; Professor Dr. Shampa Mitra, Techno India University, West Bengal, India; Dr. S. M. Zobaidul Kabir, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock, Government of Bangladesh & Dr. K M Azam Chowdhury, Chairman, Department of Oceanography, University of Dhaka as Special Guests.
Professor Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Director (Research), Techno India University, West Bengal emphasized on marine based economic development, utilization of resources without disturbing the eco-system and the effect of urbanization at the cost of forests in his key note speech. Professor Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Rector, Techno India University, West Bengal, India explained entrepreneurship on blue economy and societal advantage of it. Professor Dr. Shampa Mitra, Techno India University, West Bengal, India elaborated the importance of blue economy to save the future generations with economic benefits. Dr. S. M. Zobaidul Kabir, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock, Government of Bangladesh gave his insights on the policies and scientific research on blue economy both in Bangladesh and India. Dr. K M Azam Chowdhury, Chairman, Department of Oceanography, University of Dhaka gave ideas on sustainable blue economy in Cox’s Bazar. Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Daffodil International University identified the salient points discussed by the participants on blue economy and gave few recommendations. The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, Daffodil International University.
