The Department of Software Engineering at Daffodil International University has organized the first-ever International Virtual AI Summit 2023 in Bangladesh. The primary objective of this summit is to introduce AI tools for teaching and research. The International Virtual AI Summit was inaugurated by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University recently. Professor Dr. Neil Perez Balba from Lyceum of the Philippines University–Laguna delivered a keynote speech during the opening session. Following that, the respected head of the Department of Software Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Imran Mahmud, welcomed the participants, esteemed guests, and facilitators.
The two-day summit comprised four workshops on AI tool applications, each led by a facilitator. The first workshop, titled "Chat GPT for Bibliometric Analysis," was conducted on April 15 by Associate Professor Dr. Aidi Ahmi from University Utara Malaysia. Dr. Ahmi is a globally renowned author who has published two books on Bibliometric Analysis. The second workshop, "AI Tools for Daily Life," was led by well-known social influencer Zafar Hossain Zafi. The second day of the summit began on April 16 with a workshop on "AI Tools for Teaching" by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin Mohd Harithuddin from University Putra Malaysia. Dr. Harithuddin has recently gained international attention for his innovative approach to integrating AI tools into teaching and learning. The fourth and final workshop, "LinkedIn Profile Development using ChatGPT," was conducted by another popular social media influencer and successful entrepreneur, Sabbir Ahmed.
As computer literacy has become essential in modern society, so too has AI literacy. More than eighty registered participants from around the world took part in the International Virtual AI Summit 2023. Through interactive workshops, attendees learned to efficiently use AI tools in research and teaching. These workshops also demonstrated techniques for using AI tools in daily and professional settings. The summit contributed to the promotion of learning to use AI tools effectively and applying them in teaching, research, and daily life for improved speed, quality, and efficiency.
In the closing session of the International Virtual AI Summit 2023, Professor Dr. Ujjwal K Chowdhury illustrated the use of AI with examples and shared his experience using AI tools. The Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Daffodil International University, Professor Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan, provided closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of developing a skill set for using AI tools. Lastly, Dr. Fazle Elahe, Assistant Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Software Engineering at Daffodil International University, concluded the International Virtual AI Summit 2023 by delivering a vote of thanks.
