A two day long global health conference titled "WHO Simulation 2023" ended on April 29, 2023 at Daffodil International University. Bangladesh Medical Students' Society (BMSS), World Health Organization (WHO) and the Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University jointly organized the conference. Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP graced the closing session of the conference as the as chief guest While Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University was present as the guest of honour. Prof. M Mostafa Zaman, Adviser, Research and Publication, World Health Organization Bangladesh and Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel, Public Health Expert Advisor, DGHS MOHFW.
The function was also addressed by Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Bellal Hossain, Associate Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences,Professor Dr. ABM Alauddin Chowdhury, Convener of the conference, Dr. Myesha Maliha Binte Mamun, President of BMSS.
A total of 300 medical students and doctors from more than 30 medical colleges and hospitals including the current BPH and MPH students from the Department of Public Health, DIU participated in the program. The closing ceremony was hosted by Raad Wrik Hassan and Anika Tabassum Totini.
Earlier Salma Sultana, National Professional Officer, WHO conducted a special session on “Art of Public speaking and Building Youth leadership. The rest of the day went by with the successful completion of committee sessions on Gender Equity and Maternal Health, Health Innovation, Health Equity and Health System, communicable disease and non-communicable disease consisting of 66 delegates in the form of Model United Nation. The delegates presented their deposition and through a healthy competition medical students practiced advocacy and leadership skills creating a unique milestone.
